Scouting Report

OVERVIEW
A starter from the moment he stepped on the Washington campus, Thybulle might not have lived up to the expectations of some, but he owns a few spots in the program's record book. No player in Pac-12 history has more steals than Thybulle - not even Gary Payton - and no player in the last 20 years in Division I has recorded at least 100 steals and 80 blocked shots in the same year, as Thybulle did as a senior.
He was named the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year, and was a primary reason why Washington won the Pac-12 regular season title. Thybulle's scoring went down by nearly two points per game as a senior from 11.2 to 9.1, but he did sink 85.1 percent of his free throws, so he does have the stroke. It's just a matter of getting him to take better shots.
ANALYSIS
The 6-5 Thybulle boasts a wing span of 7-0, which made him an ideal fit for the 2-3 zone defense installed by former Jim Boeheim assistant Mike Hopkins. But the question with him is this: Is he the ultimate 3 and D guy, or is he more suited to be a more athletic version of Dennis Rodman? Neither one as it pertains to basketball is a bad fate, even though the perception will always be there that he should be more.
Thybulle's 3-point percentage plummeted from 40.5 percent as a sophomore to 30.5 percent as a senior, which gets back to shot selection. He never made even 45 percent of his field goals for a season in his career. But with his length and thirst for the ball on defense, he's got a chance to cash a lot of professional paychecks.
Projection: Second Round
