Scouting Report

OVERVIEW
Porter failed to live up to his potential in his only season at USC. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound swingman averaged 9.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 22.1 minutes per game for the Trojans, who failed to make the NCAA tournament for the second year in a row. An early-season quadriceps injury hurt his production.
Off-the-court issues also proved problematic for Porter, who had a run-in with head coach Andy Enfield and was suspended for "personal conduct issues" during the season. Yet the Seattle native showed remarkable athleticism when he was on the court and can fill up the net if he is focused and healthy.
ANALYSIS
Porter seems to have "boom or bust" written all over him. Some scouts have compared him with superstar James Harden because of his terrific step-back jumper and ability to score from anywhere. One scout told the Los Angeles Times that he believed Porter is better than Duke guard RJ Barrett, who could go as high as No. 3 in the draft.
So what's the catch? Well, attitude, for one. Porter caused problems for himself at USC and is not exactly seen as the most mature player in the draft. Can he show personal growth off the court while also working on becoming more consistent on the court? It's possible, absolutely, but far from guaranteed. Still, expect someone in the late first round or early second round to take the chance.
