Scouting Report

OVERVIEW
At 6-feet-10, 240 pounds, Oturu is a good-sized big man who showed huge improvement between his freshman and sophomore seasons for the Golden Gophers, doubling his scoring numbers from 10 to 20 a game.
He led the team in scoring and rebounding at 11.3 a game (up from seven per game his freshman year). He also averaged 2.5 blocks a game and shot 36.5 percent from the 3-point line and 56.3 percent from the floor overall.
His parents came to the United States from Nigeria, by way of table tennis. His father played for the national team in ping pong and first came to the United States to play in a tournament. His family's journey to the states has made Oturu a humbled, hard-working player, who has a reputation as being a student of the game.
ANALYSIS
There just isn't a lot of enticing size in this year's draft, so Oturu will benefit from this as well as teams betting on his upside.
Oturu is a touch slim and could stand to bulk up and add some muscle for the NBA game. He does have a nice wingspan at 7-3, which leads to his shot-blocking, but how much he plays in the post could depend on more power.
Oturu has excellent footwork, relying on a nice spin move in the post and plays great around the basket. He's a good shooter, firing a high percentage, but his smooth delivery is slow and requires a lot of space.
Perhaps hidden a bit in Minnesota, and with a lack of size in the draft, Oturu could be a surprise pick.
Projection: Late first round
