Vegas wins in OT as Blues clinch berth

LAS VEGAS (AP) Jonathan Marchessault scored with 17 seconds left in overtime to lift the Vegas Golden Knights to a 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Friday night.

After clearing the puck cross-ice to Alex Tuch on a give-and-go, Marchessault took the return pass after slipping behind two Blues skaters and beat Jordan Binnington over his glove, sending the NHL's biggest crowd of the season of 7,567 into a frenzy.

"It was a great feeling," Marchessault said. "It was a good backcheck from Tuchy. Robin (Lehner) made a big save again; he made a lot of big saves in overtime. It was the loudest we had all year, and it was a great feeling."


Flyers prevent Caps from reclaiming 1st

WASHINGTON (AP) Falling flat after an emotional week, the Washington Capitals cost themselves their easiest path to a division title and showed worrying signs with the playoffs approaching.

The Capitals lost to the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2 Friday night, missing their chance to reclaim first place in the East Division. They trail the Pittsburgh Penguins by two points with two games left on their regular-season schedule.


Stars beat Tampa, playoff hopes alive

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Joe Pavelski had two goals and two assists to help keep the Dallas Stars' postseason hopes alive with a 5-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday night.

The win moved Dallas within two points of Nashville heading into the final weekend of the regular season. The Stars play Chicago on Sunday and Monday, while the Predators host Carolina, which clinched its first division title since 2006 on Friday with Tampa Bay's loss, on Saturday and Monday.


Rantanen scores 30th, Avs edge Kings

LOS ANGELES (AP) Mikko Rantanen scored his 30th goal of the season, Cale Makar had a goal and an assist and the Colorado Avalanche beat the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 on Friday night.

Tyson Jost also scored, Philipp Grubauer made 15 saves and the Avalanche remained four points behind the Vegas Golden Knights for first in the West Division.


Kaprizov lifts Wild over Ducks in OT

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) Kirill Kaprizov scored 17 seconds into overtime to send the Minnesota Wild to a 4-3 win against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night.

Kaprizov, the rookie sensation with 27 goals this season, snapped a quick shot that was stopped by Anaheim goalie John Gibson, but drove the net and found the puck on a rebound and easily scored with Gibson unable to recover.


Coyotes' Kessel scores for 900th point

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) Phil Kessel scored the go-ahead goal for his 900th career point and Victor Soderstrom and Jan Jenik each scored their first NHL goals as the Arizona Coyotes beat the San Jose Sharks 5-2 on Friday night.

Conor Garland added a goal and two assists for Arizona, which also benefited from an overturned San Jose goal that would have tied it in the third.


Pens goalies Jarry, Smith out for finale

PITTSBURGH (AP) The Pittsburgh Penguins will be without their top two goaltenders for Saturday's regular-season finale against Buffalo.

Coach Mike Sullivan ruled Tristan Jarry and Casey DeSmith out with minor injuries on Friday.


Caps' Wilson eager to move on from scrum

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) Tom Wilson reached out to Artemi Panarin in the aftermath of the most talked about incident in hockey this week, and now he's ready to move on from his latest controversy.

In his first interview since a scrum against New York that left Panarin injured, led to a $5,000 fine and sparked a fight-filled rematch two nights later, the Washington Capitals forward said Friday he's good to go after an upper-body injury and glad the Rangers star is doing better.


Red Wings score 3 in 2nd to beat Jackets

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Thomas Greiss made 22 saves and the Detroit Reds Wings scored three goals in the second period to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-2 on Friday night.

Jakub Vrana had a goal and an assist, and Joe Veleno and Danny DeKeyser also scored in the second period for the Red Wings, who are dueling with the Blue Jackets to stay out of the Central Division basement as they play out the final weekend. Detroit leads Columbus by one point in the standings ahead of Saturday's finale.


Canucks F McEwen given 1-game suspension

NEW YORK (AP) Vancouver Canucks forward Zack MacEwen was suspended for one game without pay by the NHL on Friday for kneeing Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse.

The incident came midway through the second period Thursday night in the Canucks' 6-3 victory in Edmonton.
